No matter what the season, the view of the Riverwalk Quarry from the Farmers Plaza at Eagle Street is a big reflection of community spirit that includes the Gregory Gazebo, Jaycees Marina and Moser Tower with the 72-bell carillon. An Evening with Jazz Pianist Chris White – 8PM | $17-22

North Central College presents “An Evening with Jazz Pianist Chris White” at 8PM in Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Pianist Chris White hails from Toronto, Canada. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Toronto, he decided to focus his studies entirely on music. While pursuing his master’s degree in jazz studies from Indiana’s prestigious Jacobs School of Music, he performed with the Bloomington Symphony, David Baker, Jamey Aebersold and Oliver Nelson, Jr. In 2010, he completed his doctoral of musical arts in jazz performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, White works as a freelance musician in Chicago. He has recorded two CDs, “Young at Heart” and “Tributaries.” Currently a faculty member of the Shell Lake Improvisation and Combo Camp, he also served on the faculty of the Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp. Joining White for this concert will be fellow members of the College’s highly-esteemed jazz studies program. Tickets are $22 for adults and $17 for seniors and students. This family-friendly event benefit is hosted by the Naperville Professional Firefighters for a Cause and the Naperville Fire Department to raise funds and awareness for the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s Camp ‘I am Me,’ a burn camp for child burn survivors. DuPagePads is calling all walkers and runners, individuals and families to the 15th Annual Run 4 Home on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 8am, beginning at 703 West Liberty in Wheaton. This 10K and 5K course appeals to serious runners, casual joggers and walkers. The entire community is invited to come and support DuPagePads mission to end homelessness. This family friendly, non-competitive walk along the Fox River Path is the perfect way to support our neighbors in need. This is an event the entire community will enjoy while gaining valuable safety information for their families, neighborhoods and workplaces. This must-see event put on by the Naperville Police and Fire Departments will include a variety of activities including an auto extrication and simulated DUI arrest along with a helicopter exercise (weather permitting); demonstrations of the K-9 Unit, Water Rescue Team and Special Response Team; and a flashover fire room demonstration. A large display of Fire and Police vehicles and equipment will also be on-site, and food trucks will stage for lunch from 11AM to 2PM. More info at www.naperville.il.us.

The 34th annual juried Riverwalk Fine Art Fair features work by over 130 of the finest national and international artists. Casey’s Foods located at Naperville Plaza will be firing up its grill every Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 2PM through October, weather permitting. Choose from a variety of options, including burgers, brats, tacos or the weekly special. Add a dollar and get chips and a drink. It’s great food, at a good price, in a fun atmosphere.
