Naperville Festivals, Traditions & Special Events for 2017

Above / The Turning Pointe Autism Foundation 2nd Annual Pumpkin Race returns to Rotary Hill at 1PM on Sat., Oct. 28. All ages are invited to create a pumpkin racer ($20 kit includes wheels and axles for your pumpkin) and be prepared to participate in a heated event, much like a Soap Box Derby slated for Oct. 7-8, 2017.

Above / Summertime! / The Naperville Municipal Band Summer Concert Season, 7:30PM on Thursdays in Central Park, returns the second week of June 2018. Stay tuned! And thanks for supporting the arts! Note also the NMB will perform at 10:45AM, just prior to the 11AM observance of Veteran’s Day on November 11, Veterans Park on Gartner Rd. Also, save the date for the annual indoor Fall Concert at 3PM Sun., Nov. 12, 2017, at Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave., on the campus of North Central College.

The events listed here, many free*** of admission charge, invite all individuals to catch the spirit whether by personal invitation or not.

Some exact dates for 2017 have yet to be determined, but places have been held as reminders.

Students often participate in parades and other local traditions; however, school concerts and performances are not listed here. Thanks for supporting the arts in our schools.

Naperville loves a parade, its music and its timely bucket shakers for charity! The Frank E. Fling mascot thanks all marching bands from local middle and high schools to the Naperville Municipal Band for mustering up the rousing music that prompts cheers from spectators throughout the parade season!

Above / The first parade of the year is the St. Patrick’s Parade beginning at 10AM on the Saturday in March before St. Patrick’s Day in downtown Naperville. Hosted by the West Suburban Irish, the sounds of bag pipers and the steps of the McNulty Irish Dancers entertain spectators. Collectible scarves with an Irish theme also will be sold along the parade route for $5 each. Think green and sunshine!
