September Events at North Central College

Through Oct. 8, Art exhibit: NCC presents an art exhibit by Chicago painter Stella Zee. This exhibit is free and open to the public through Oct. 8 in the College’s Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St. Zee will greet visitors at a reception from 1 to 3PM on Sunday, Sept. 13; complimentary refreshments will be served.

Through Oct. 11, Art exhibit: NCC will showcase artwork by sculptor Marina Kuchinski through Oct. 11. Titled “For Only,” the free exhibit will be on display in NCC’s Schoenherr Gallery, 171 E. Chicago Ave.

Sept. 7, College closed: NCC will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Sept. 12, Cardinal football: The NCC Cardinals will play their first football game of the season vs. Trine University at 1PM Saturday, Sept. 12, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, 455 S. Brainard St. Tickets are $6/adults and free to students with a valid ID and to children ages 3 and under. For more info, visit northcentralcardinals.com/football.

Sept. 18, Transfer information session: NCC will host an information session Friday, Sept. 18, for transfer students. Visitors can learn about academic choices, transfer admission process, scholarships and financial aid. Registration begins at 9:45AM in Smith Hall at Old Main, 30 N. Sept. 18, Music: NCC presents “An Evening with Jazz Trumpeter Art Davis” at 8PM Friday, Sept. 18, in the College’s Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Accompanying Davis will be North Central jazz faculty artists saxophonist Mitch Paliga, trombonist Tim Coffman, pianist Chris White, bassist Kelly Sill and drummer Jack Mouse. Tickets are $20/adults and $15/students and seniors.

Sept. 25, High school football: NCC hosts the Prairie Classic football game matchup between Metea Valley and Waubonsie Valley high schools of Indian Prairie School District 204. Kickoff is at 7:30PM Friday, Sept. 25, in Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, 455 S. Brainard St. For ticket information contact the high schools.

Sept. 26, Music: North Central College presents 4 Girls 4, four musical stars from Broadway, film and TV. Featuring the biggest hits from their Tony Award-winning shows, their concert begins at 8PM Saturday, Sept. 26, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. Tickets are $75, $65 and $60.

Sept. 30, Author talk: Anderson’s Bookshops and NCC co-present best-selling author Ransom Riggs and special musical guest Sleeping at Last for a live music performance, author talk and book signing at 7PM Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Riggs’ latest release is titled, “Library of Souls: The Third Novel of Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children.” For tickets and info, call Anderson’s at (630) 355-2665 or visit andersonsbookshop.com.
