Faithful Reflections – On the Move After Ten Years

-

Soon after I arrived in Naperville, Stephanie Penick invited me to write an article for Positively Naperville. I later learned that her friend, Rita Harvard, had encouraged her to ask. So for the past ten years assembling 250 words into an article with some meaning has been a monthly task. I have attempted to offer insight into spiritual health and resiliency from the perspective of a Christian Pastor for a community that is diverse.

I am now retiring from active ministry and will be moving away from Naperville in June. So this will be my last article for Positively Naperville for the foreseeable future. I have enjoyed the many comments and responses over the years, and once in a while being recognized on the street from the picture accompanying the article. (Just a hint of fame is more than enough!)

I want to thank Stephanie for inviting me to write – it has been a great pleasure. I also want to thank her for creating Positively Naperville and for her encouragement of the community spirit that make this a great place to live.

Generally I have not quoted the Bible in this column, but it seems somehow appropriate now as a path to spiritual health in times of transition: Philippians 4:8

Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Grace and Peace.
