From July 8-13, nine members of the Exchange Club of Naperville traveled to the 2014 National Exchange Club Convention in New Orleans.
At this year’s convention, the club was honored to receive the Outstanding Website Award for clubs with members of 50 or more. Also honored was Dawn Portner, 2013- 2014 Exchange Club of Naperville President, with the Distinguished Club President Award. This is a highly prestigious award that is not easily earned. The Club also received the Big E Award for all of the projects it completed during the year.
The National Exchange Club – a service organization with 700 clubs and more than 20,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico – celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2011. Founded in 1911 in Detroit by business leaders who wanted to “exchange” ideas on making their community better, the Exchange Club moved its headquarters to Toledo, Ohio, in 1917.
Its core values – Family, Community and Country —are held by each Exchange member with pride and commitment. For over one hundred years, Exchange Club volunteer efforts have supported the needs of the country and of local communities, making it the country’s oldest American service organization operating exclusively in this country.
Please remember you are always welcome to join us for a luncheon meeting on the first and third Fridays at noon at Hugo’s Frog Pond. We welcome your interest in our club as we’re always seeking new members who embrace our mission.
Let me wrap up with Ribfest. I’d like to thank all of the many sponsors, volunteers and club members for putting on another successful event in Knoch Park. Now planning begins for Ribfest 2015.
