About 30 minutes before the Early Voting polls closed on Mon., March 18, the entrance along Eagle Street to the City of Naperville Municipal Parking lot was backed up. We slowed down, then carefully turned right off Eagle into the packed parking lot at the Municipal Center.
Wow! We imagined a long line of voters waiting in the lower level to make their voices heard before the polls closed at 7PM.
Once inside, we quickly discovered parents and students were attending the annual School District 203 Art Exhibit on display throughout the open spaces of the Municipal Center.
Four DuPage County voters were waiting in line to cast their ballots in the lower level. No Will County voters were waiting in the City Clerk’s office.
Voting took less than five minutes, so we took time to wander throughout the exhibit, now featured through Thurs., April 4.
“Put Your Heart into Art” is an engaging display of talent, representative of all ages of students. We appreciated all the efforts to showcase the wide variety of the students’ work.
Naperville City Clerk Dawn Portner noted that 10 works of the young artists would be selected and reproduced for colorful banners to be displayed along 95th Street later this spring.
Look for the words of Picasso on display, too. “Every child is an artist.”
And here’s a small sample that impressed Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli, too!
