Above / ‘Tis the season when the fountain near the entrance to City Hall is turned off for the year and the space now is decorated for the holidays. Cheers to the twinkling bright side of life with memories of Monty Python and the difference a day can make!
What a difference a day makes
What a difference a day makes… Twenty-four little hours…
Lord, what a difference a day makes… And 30 years make a difference, too!

Did you know?
Back in 1993 when the Naperville Municipal Center was new and Sam Macrane served as Mayor, Naperville’s population signs posted “89,000.” By 2000, the population was 128,358. Today it’s about 148,000. Recently, we changed the cover on the PN FB page to reflect this bright image of City Hall.
Rambin’ right along…
The photos of the Naperville Municipal Center pictured above and below were taken across the quarry near the Gregory Gazebo on the last weekend in November, first under clear sunny skies on Nov. 25, then during snow flurries on Nov. 26. Both photos were taken late in the afternoon. And what a difference a day makes!
“What a Difference a Day Makes” was a hit song by Dinah Washington in 1959. The optimistic song is an English translation of Mexican songwriter María Grever’s 1934 Spanish-language song “Cuando vuelva a tu lado.”

These two photos show just how quickly 24 hours can make a difference between sunshine and overcast skies. While the atmosphere in the second photo might appear dismal, unlike the sunny photo, joyful noises were coming from nearby Rotary Hill where kids were sledding in the new fallen snow.
Listening to the sounds of children at play brought a brightened sense of gratitude for the linear park all along the DuPage River in the heart of downtown Naperville, a special place that changes, of course, every 24 hours.
Happy holidays on the bright side!

Check back to this post sometime soon. No doubt we’ll update it by featuring another photo of a great Scott family home aglow for the season. —PN
