Above / Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve is ready and waiting for visitors to enjoy its autumn beauty far into the distance. For starters, find the 1,829-acre natural area with running and biking trails just south of 75th Street at Book Road.

Brats at Kreger’s / 10AM to 3PM Fridays and Saturdays at Kreger’s Brat and Sausage Haus – 606 N. Ellsworth Naperville, IL 60563 / Stop by for lunch, conversation and camaraderie. Plan a barbecue and pick up handcrafted bratwurst for the grill. And be sure to tell Bill Kreger that you know his wurst is the best.

Empower Gala, hosted by KidsMatter, at The Matrix Club / 6PM / Cocktail reception begins, followed at 7PM by dinner, program, music, dancing as well as live and silent auctions. All Hallows Eve / 6:30-10PM at Naper Settlement – 523 S. Webster St. Naperville, IL 60540 / 6:30-10PM Friday, October 20 & Saturday, October 21 / $20/person / Magic, monsters, and mythical entertainment will be summoned on the grounds of Naper Settlement during this annual fall festival! Come enjoy a lineup of Halloween-themed outdoor activities, art, and performances for the entire family. Attractions include an alien autopsy, zombie maze, fire dancers, a magic show, and more. Naperville Farmers Market / 7AM to Noon at Fifth Avenue Station – 200 East 5th Ave. Naperville, IL 60540 / The Farmers Market runs June through November with June-November, hosting 50-plus vendors every Saturday 7AM-noon.

Trick or Treat at Safety Town / 9AM to noon / Costumes encouraged at family event designed for children ages 3-12. Younger children are welcome. Bring a bag to collect goodies. Cost is $15 per family (benefiting Safety Town) and a nonperishable food item (benefiting Loaves and Fishes). Safety Town is located at the Naperville Public Safety Campus, 1320 Aurora Avenue at River Road.

Naperville Half Marathon, 10K & 5K / 7AM at Jackson Ave. and Eagle St. / The Healthy Driven Naperville Half Marathon & 5K draws participants to Naperville’s lively downtown, historic sights and beautiful neighborhoods. When strolling the Riverwalk, look for bronze plaques that help tell the story of this community’s can-do spirit to create the Riverwalk Park along the DuPage River. In 2021, dozens of commemorative plaques from Main Street to Jefferson Avenue were restored by the Riverwalk Foundation.
