Above / While the doors to the home of the West Suburban Irish remain closed at Quigley’s Irish Pub during Phase 3 of Restore Illlinois, the championship round of WSI Virtual Quiz Night begins at 7PM June 16, 2020. The dog-friendly patio at Quigley’s is open, however.
Update, June 17, 2020 / Kent Schielke, on behalf of the Quiz Night team (Mike Reilly, Paul Santucci, Cynthia Cieckiewicz, Tim Johnston and Evan Person), is pleased to announce the first, second and third-place winners of the 2020 WSI Quiz Night Competition, a virtual first as the West Suburban Irish wrapped up the 11th season of team spirit on June 16.
According to Schielke, fourteen teams competed from remote locations for the 2020 championship, “many regulars who like to mix it up with different timely names each month.”
The First Place award went to “Come Together,” Second Place to “Is it 2021 Yet?” and Third Place to “Cooler by the Lake.” Schielke added that third place was achieved after “an exciting tiebreaker!”

Due to the Independence Day and Labor Day holidays, WSI Quiz Nights in July and September are always skipped on the first Tuesday. The next planned trivia event, however, will be sandwiched between the two months at 7PM on Tues., August 4. Watch for details in late July and early August about year-round quiz nights and other special events hosted by the West Suburban Irish. Teams with silly and timely names always are welcome to join the fun and try their luck.

Play for fun, compete with camaraderie and test teamwork while combining retrieval of useless knowledge with teammates during the final game of the season when some team will reign with bragging rights and a few silly prizes as the champs, organizers said.
In fact, since it’s June, ever wonder what’s the only letter of the alphabet that does not appear on the periodic table? No worries, questions about the periodic table are not among the questions in the four categories for the championship game Virtual Quiz Night (VQN).

Special Note to All WSI VQN Teams
“Our apologies to any of our teams that may not have received a direct email,” noted game organizer Kent Schielke, regarding the two-week delay of the championship game. “In light of all current circumstances, Virtual Quiz Night was postponed from Tues., June 2, to Tues., June 16. Same time and categories – please reconfirm your team’s registration before then. Thanks for your understanding.”
As always, VQN starts at 7PM. When teams compete, a few fun things will happen, thanks to members of the West Suburban Irish.
- Bags of candy and goodies for the winners of every round will be delivered to Naperville doorsteps during WSI Virtual Quiz Night.
- Gift cards to Quigley’s Irish Pub for $20, $30 and $50 for the top 3 finishers.
- Team pics of the winning teams will appear in Positively Naperville and on www.wsirish.org!
