Calling all folks to appreciate art by voting in latest Naperville Art League competition

-

Above / Organizers invite all ages to help compare, contrast and choose the best by voting online for your favorite “Juxtapose” art by April 24, 2020.

Naperville Art League invites all residents and friends, young and old, to vote for their favorite work of art. The League’s annual Public Art Competition, themed “Juxtapose” is normally a Gallery event at the Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery at 508 N. Center Street.

Due to the COVID-19 Stay-at-Home order, the show is online and voting has been extended to Friday, April 24.

“We think this is exciting. It is the first time this annual competition has been online and it’s getting a lot of attention,” noted Sally Sharp, NAL president. “We added a People’s Choice Award this year. Our hope is to engage the community and provide a source of joy in these tough times.”

Vote online at napervilleartleague.com

Vote by going to www.napervilleartleague.com or to the League’s Facebook page. Voting ends Fri., April 24, and winners will be posted shortly afterward.

About 50 local artists participated in this year’s annual competition. Art displayed ranges from traditional to contemporary, 2D and 3D. Click on the images online and artist statements will be shown, enabling viewers to learn more about the art and artist.

“We know this is something children will find interesting as they try to find their favorite,” Sharp said. “When children come to our Gallery, they really enjoy making a game of finding their favorite art.”

All items in the show are original and most are available for sale, Sharp added.

Even when the Naperville Art League is closed, since 2009 the Century Walk mural by Marianne Lisson Kuhn along its southern exterior has illustrated the story of the “World’s Greatest Artists.”
