April 12, 2020 / Remember! Help keep the community safe. Stay home as much as possible. Wear a face mask or bandana. Help protect physical and mental health of everyone around you. Cover coughs and sneezes.
Wash your hands often, but don’t wash away your commonsense.
Hold onto hugs for future giving. Keep a 6′ social distance. Take walks and appreciate the flowers of spring in every neighbor’s garden. Call family and friends. Have faith, hope and charity to fulfill unmet needs of less fortunate. Be safe and continue vigilance as signs indicate the curve of infections is flattening.
April 12, 2020: Daily COVID-19 Case Counts* for DuPage County
*Data are provisional as of 11AM April 12, 2020, and subject to change.
Total cases in DuPage County residents 1,165 (161 outbreak-associated** and 1,004 nonoutbreak-associated cases), including 48 deaths
Total Willowbrook long-term care facility outbreak-associated cases 53 (34 residents and 19 staff), including 9 deaths

**Outbreak-associated cases are linked to a congregate setting (e.g., long-term care facilities, workplaces, schools) or large gathering (e.g., convention, concert).
Since yesterday, Since yesterday, there are 108 new cases of COVID-19 in DuPage County including two deaths reported.
Regarding the 161 outbreak-associated cases (including 27 deaths) among DuPage County residents:
• 42 cases (including 9 deaths) are attributed to the Willowbrook long-term care facility (LTCF),
• 90 cases (including 18 deaths) are attributed to 19 additional LTCFs, and
• 29 cases are attributed to 11 outbreaks in other congregate settings and large gatherings.
DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) announces two additional deaths of persons with COVID19 infection reported since yesterday:
• Female resident of a Carol Stream long-term care facility in her 90s with underlying conditions, and
• Male resident of a Carol Stream long-term care facility in his 90s with underlying conditions.
DCHD offers our condolences to the families and caregivers of these individuals. We remain committed to address the unfortunate loss of life related to COVID-19. Our efforts continue with healthcare and community partners to reduce COVID-19 transmission in DuPage County.

DuPage County is accepting donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to assist in the COVID-19 response. To donate unused PPE, which must be in the original manufacturer’s packaging, visit www.protectdupage.org and complete the PPE Donations Offer Form. Add cloth-covering facemasks to practice of social distancing
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has made the recommendation to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus when in public, the use of clothcovering facemasks by the general public while maintaining 6 feet of social distancing. The recommended cloth facemasks are NOT the N95 masks which should still be reserved for first responders and medical workers who have direct contact with coronavirus patients.

Today, April 12, 2020, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported another 1,672 cases of COVID-19 and an additional 43 deaths in Illinois, bringing the totals to 20,852 and 720, respectively. To date, 85 of Illinois’ 102 counties have been impacted, according to IDPH.
