One of the basic principles of design – in gardens as well as floral arrangements – is to create an area of interest and excitement, a focal point. If you have ever wanted to experience being a floral designer, here’s your chance.
For several years, the Naperville Garden Club has invited Janet Gallagher, a Floral Design Instructor, to coach us as we make a floral design. She brings all the materials (container, flowers, greens, etc.) as well as students from her classes at Kishwaukee College to help us. Janet instructs us on the elements of design as step-by-step we all become confident floral designers.
Each year Janet plans a new design for us and we learn how to use the lessons learned at this workshop to make floral designs for any occasion. With the wide variety of flowers just waiting for us in many retail locations, you (like me) will not be able to resist stopping for a moment to enjoy their beauty and perhaps purchase some to take home and make a floral design of your own. A little knowledge of floral design is empowering! Give it a try.
Please join us on Wed., Feb. 26 at the White Eagle Golf Club. Registration and refreshments are at 8:45AM, with a business meeting at 9:15AM, followed by the Floral Design Workshop. Bring clippers and a box so you can take your design home. If you don’t have floral clippers, don’t worry. Our members are happy to share with you.
