Update, Feb. 20, 2020 / The 2020 Naperville Pizza Wars rounded up Wednesday night with Little Pops NY Pizzeria Trattoria coming in first place. No matter how they sliced it, the first Pizza Wars hosted by the Noon LIons Club in Naperville brought nine different pizzerias to the Naperville Central High School cafeteria to compete for bragging rights as the city’s best pizzeria.

Proceeds from the event, reported to be $12,000, will benefit programs provided by members of the Naperville Noon Lion’s Club. During the taste test, roughly 1,200 people packed the cafeteria, nearly twice as many as organizers expected for a first-time event.

The community is invited to sample pizza from nine of Naperville’s many pizzerias from 5:30PM to 8PM Wed., Feb. 19, in the Naperville Central High School Cafeteria. Then pizza fans will have a chance to vote to determine their favorite, all while supporting a great cause.

Organizers say this first-time event is “a great way to have a pizza dinner that will benefit vision and hearing programs supported by the Noon Lions Club.”

Participating pizzerias include Braconi’s, Little Pops, Rocco’s, Aurielo’s, Little Italian, Uncle Pete’s, Lou Malnati’s, Cassaono’s and Giordano’s, in no particular order.

Pizza tasting ends at 7:30PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to cast a vote for their favorites. At the end of the evening, about 8PM, winners will be crowned in each category. Then the bragging rights begin!

Order advance Tickets ($10 each) online

Tickets are available for $10 each in advance at www.napervillepizzawars.com or $15 at the door on Feb. 19. Advance tickets are recommended as this event may be a sellout, organizers suggest.

Proceeds from Pizza Wars will support the Naperville Noon Lions Foundation Social Service Program which provides eye examinations, eye glasses and hearing examinations free of charge to those families and other individuals in the Naperville area who cannot afford these services. In addition, research and education grants are provided related to vision and hearing issues. In the past fiscal year 325 individuals where provided free services which cost the Naperville Lions Foundation approximately $110,000.
