The Chicago Wolves’ Read to Succeed program, presented by Butternut and J.U.L.I.E. Call 811, will make a visit to Naperville on Tues., Dec. 10, 2019.

Center Jake Leschyshyn will visit the Naper Boulevard Library at 5:30PM on Dec. 10, to kick off the Read To Succeed’s 24th year partnering with local libraries. Since the program’s inception, more than 500,000 students have taken part in these special library visits, organizers said.

Leschyshyn is in his first full season with the Wolves. He joined the organization late in the 2018-19 season and helped the team reach the 2019 Calder Cup Finals. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native notched his first professional goal on Oct. 26 against Manitoba.

Center Jake Leschyshyn hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Meet him on Dec. 10 at the 95th Street Library.

Prior to beginning his professional career with the Wolves, the 20-year-old spent five seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Regina Pats and most recently, the Lethbridge Hurricanes. During his time with Lethbridge, Leschyshyn racked up 49 points (24G, 25A) in 44 regular-season games and led WHL players in faceoff attempts (1,799) and faceoff wins (1,024).

Wolves’ Read to Succeed

The Wolves’ Read to Succeed program explains the importance of recreational reading and encourages children to take advantage of all the services libraries provide. The players emphasize reading beyond normal classroom activity and highlight the ways they continue to benefit from recreational reading as professional athletes.

Read to Succeed participants can win prizes — including Wolves tickets and knit hats — for setting and achieving reading goals in conjunction with their local library.

Wolves players also are visiting other local libraries this season as well as visiting Chicago-area schools.
