Beginning at 7PM Wed., Oct. 30, 2019, the Chabad Jewish Center will host an historic event, providing an opportunity to hear the story of featured speaker and author, Eva Schloss, a Holocaust survivor and stepsister of Anne Frank. The talk will take place at Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton, on the campus of North Central College.

Schloss will be traveling from London to tell her story of triumph and survival during an interview led by talk radio host, Hallerin Hilton Hill.

The stepsister and childhood friend of Anne Frank, Schloss is a trustee of the Anne Frank Educational Trust, the author of three books and the subject of James Still’s play, “And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank.” Like her stepsister, Schloss went into hiding in Holland until she and her family were betrayed, captured and sent to the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. Since 1985, she has devoted herself to Holocaust education and global peace.

Mindful that soon all Holocaust survivors will be gone, will their stories of tolerance, diversity and triumph live on?

The 90-minute presentation marks a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for residents of the Chicagoland area and students to hear firsthand from a Holocaust survivor, noted Chabad Naperville Rabbi Mendy Goldstein, urging the community to attend.

Tickets begin at $25. Individual and group tickets are available through the event Website. Or call (630) 344-9770.

About Eva Schloss

Eva Schloss is a Holocaust survivor: a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, friend, a teacher and a humanitarian.

She survived escape from her homeland in Austria, two years in hiding, capture on her 15th birthday, nine months in Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp, repatriation in Holland and the death of her beloved father and brother.

Forty years after the end of World War II, Schloss began to share her story. She has since written two books and spoken to more than a thousand audiences about her experiences. In 1999, Schloss joined United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan in signing the Anne Frank Peace Declaration, along with a niece of Raul Wallenberg, a Schindler-like hero who rescued thousands of Jews in Budapest.  Schloss joins many courageous individuals who work tirelessly to end the violence and bigotry that continue to plague our world.

Schloss’s story is sensational and difficult to imagine; yet, her insightful message reminds us that life is precious and fragile, that the creative spirit is stronger than fear, that the power of good is immeasurable and that love makes a difference.
