Sensory Garden Play Days Open to All Families!

-

Summer is finally here! The sunshine, fresh air, warm breezes ….  it just beckons you.

If you are a family with young children, you are probably hearing the call to head outside. There is a one-of-a-kind playground that you have to check out. It is the Sensory Garden Playground (SGP). While you can head out there anytime like with any park local playground, the SGP offers sponsored play days for even more family fun.

If you haven’t been there yet, the SGP is a universally accessible playground which allows ALL children, with and without disabilities, to play together. It is a barrier-free environment where all children can feel comfortable doing what they do best … play.  It is a combination of sensory-integration playground equipment and amenities.

While there are big plans for the finished area, right now the SGP boasts a two-five-year-old Pony Stables Playground, Sound and Fragrance Gardens, Art Along the Way sculptures, and a Central Gathering Area. Perfect for little hands and curious minds.

Everything can be reach easily by accessible paths. This is especially beneficial for those individuals with physical disabilities whether it be children or family members.

Back to the Play Days. ALL families are invited to come out to one of the special Play Days taking place this summer. This is a great time to explore the area and take advantage of the family-friendly activities including: face-painting, planting, story time, games, and a whole lot of more. It’s a great time for the whole family to play together!

The 2019 summer Play Days are June 15, July 20 and August 17 from 10AM-noon. They are free and open to the public, located at 2751 Navistar Dr., Lisle. (near the intersection of Naper Blvd. and Navistar Dr.).
