Journey with Autism – Love power in marriage

-

When a wedding is forecast and the building excitement is in the air, we really hold one of the oldest traditions up, and in preparation we have the fleeting chance to find our greatest hopes elevated in the process.

And the most recent tradition is that of married for love. In some cultures the marriage is that important to the family that they pick the person their children marry. Back in history, marriage was business and political.  Fathers made deals with other fathers of most marriages and the children had little say.

In this country people have the right to pick the person that they want to spend their life with and never before has this lacked restrictions as it does today. Race, gender, religion, age and place of origin do not prevent someone from marrying the one they ultimately love.

How love is born between two people is a mysterious mixture of linking the minds and the chemical reactions. Most often it is not a matter of making the conscious choice, instead this one-of-a-kind pairing is made for them and it has a mind and force of its own.

What occurs and then speaks to us all is the way love is capable of overcoming all obstacles and life’s long journey is now easier because of the team the marriage builds.

Marriage endures, we celebrate and cry and dance because the most important, highest hope for us all is that loves power will save us all.

This column is dedicated to my sister Raia Nicole and her future husband Nicholas Wayne.
