Feb. 28-March 2, Theatre: AlphaBet Soup productions presents two performances of the timeless classic Charlotte’s Web at 10:30AM Feb. 28-March 2 at North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall Theatre, 310 Benton Ave. Based on E.B. White’s original story, the play depicts the loving story of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte. Tickets are $8.50/person. Feb. 28-March 4, Theatre: North Central College seniors will present five performances of the intimate musical comedy “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” at 7PM Feb. 28-March 3 and at 2PM March 3-4 in the College’s Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St. Through a series of vignettes, the show explores the taboos and stereotypes of love and romance. Tickets are $15/adults, $10/students and seniors. March 1, Film: North Central College’s Center for Global Education presents another feature in its “Sustaining the Globe Series” with a screening of the documentary film Marina of Zabbaleen at 7:30PM Thursday, March 1, in Smith Hall located at Old Main, 30 N. Brainard St. This 2009 film, directed by Engi Wassef, tells the story of Marina, a seven-year-old girl living in Cairo, Egypt, whose waste management system has produced one of the highest recycling rates in the world. March 2, Visit Day: High school students and their parents or guardians are invited to attend North Central College’s Visit Day Friday, March 2, in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. The day begins with check-in at 9:15AM and concludes at 12:30PM with lunch at Kaufman Dining Hall. Visitors can take a walking tour and attend informative sessions on financial aid, academic highlights and student life. Chicago Ave. Garfunkel has left an indelible mark on the music world as a solo artist, as well as half of the unrivaled Simon & Garfunkel, where he grew a catalogue of Grammy-winning and chart-topping songs such as “Mrs. Robinson,” “Scarborough Fair,” and “The Sound of Silence.” Although tickets are sold out, contact the box office at (630) 637-SHOW (7469) to be added to the waitlist.

Brainard St. Representatives from some 200 in-state and out-of-state colleges and universities, as well as the armed forces, will be available to meet with high school students and their parents or guardians. March 20, Job fair for kids: The KidsMatter Student Job Fair will be held 5 to 7PM Tuesday, March 21, in North Central College’s Residence Hall/Recreation Center, 440 S. Brainard St. The annual fair provides seasonal and summer job opportunities as well as mock interviews, résumé workshops, and internship experiences to prepare young students for the workforce. March 24, Music: The Chicago Harmony Sweepstakes will host the A Cappella Festival, a regional competition drawing in the best vocal groups from around the country at 7:30PM Saturday, March 24, in the Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. This vocal competition inspired NBC’s hit show “The Sing-Off!” and the winning group will earn the opportunity to compete in the national finals in San Francisco. March 25, Music: North Central College presents Velvet Caravan, an unorthodox, high-energy acoustic quintet at 6PM Sunday, March 25, in the Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. The quintet offers a variety of instruments including guitar, violin, standup bass, percussion, keyboards, and an accordion to define their distinct sound. Tickets are $35 and $30.
