My food journey this month took me back to the mountains of Montana. It’s the place where my mom and Brad got married a year ago.
The McGuire Family Cabin is in the Little Belts Mountains. (The Little Belt Mountains are a section of the Rocky Mountains, great for fishing and outdoor recreation, just a short drive from Great Falls, Montana.)
A traditional McGuire breakfast consists of freshly caught Bass Trout. I was lucky enough to catch a cut throat, but we had to throw it back because your not allowed to keep them.
For Monday morning breakfast, though, the three McGuire men set out on a fly fishing mission for our breakfast. They returned successful with eight bass trout.
Brad prepared the fish for frying. Then he fried them in butter with light salt and pepper. They were cooked to perfection with a crispy skin and white flaky meat. Mmmm mmm good!
So until next month, happy journeys from Jack the Foodie.
