Quigley’s Irish Pub is set for its holiday traditions

-

It’s the holiday season and Quigley’s Irish Pub is set to celebrate with comfort and joy for the entire family with special happenings for the entire family through New Year’s Eve..

CHECK THIS ONE OFF YOUR LIST! DONE! First up, the annual Pictures with Santa is scheduled from 10AM-2PM on  Sun., Dec. 2.  Bring the family or a group of folks you want to remember until next year for pictures with the Jolly Old Elf himself and a Leprechaun, too. After photographer John Drohan takes his best shot, subjects can take home four free pictures. This photo opportunity is for all ages, so bring the entire family.

Irish-theme hats will be available.  And the hearth room will be decked out for the Christmas season. It’s suggested that patrons wear their favorite holiday attire for these keepsake photos.

“Is it even possible to be in a bad mood with one of those hats on?” asked Jane French on the Positively Naperville Facebook page.

Pictures typically take 20-30 minutes to be developed and printed. Depending on the demand, plan a little extra time with brunch.

CHECK THIS ONE OFF YOUR LIST! DONE! Then, on the first Tuesday of the month at 7PM Dec. 4, West Suburban Irish Pub Quiz Night returns to challenge teams to compete for fun and goofy prizes. Trivia, likely with holiday themes in December,  is sponsored and created by West Suburban Irish and Positively Naperville.

(Note: For future planning on your 2013 calendar, no WSI Quiz Night is held  in July or September due to holiday weekends.)

Ugly Sweater Party & Contest is Dec. 22

Quigley’s 2nd Annual “Ugly Sweater” Party is planned for Sat., Dec 22.   All you need is to keep your eyes open for the best ugly holiday-theme sweater, according to owner Nancy Quigley.

“All the men who lovingly gave their wives Christmas sweaters will find out how much they really like them if they wear them to our contest,” said Quigley.

The winner will be announced after the last set of live music at midnight.

“Must be a present to win,” joked Quigley.

New Year’s Eve Dublin Time

Finally, on the last day of 2012, families and friends are invited for the annual New Year’s Eve Celebration Dublin Time at 6PM Sat., Dec. 31.

This family-friendly event filled with good cheer is a great way to celebrate for folks who don’t like to stay up until midnight CST to welcome in the New Year.  Note also that the pub will close at 8PM on New Year’s Eve.  It’s best to come early if you plan to find a table as this event attracts groups of revelers of all ages.

Also, live music is performed on New Year’s Eve and throughout every month on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Visit Quigley’s web site for the schedule of bands.

One more thing… That Grinch!

Since Quigley’s Irish Pub is an independently-owned local business, patrons also will find The Grinch hanging out on one of the shelves. Find him (and  at 15 other Indie-Bound Naperville participating businesses) and ask for an “I found the Grinch at Quigley’s” slip to enter this season’s promotion to raise awareness about the importance of shopping locally and supporting independent business. Enter before 2PM Fri., Dec. 28, at Anderson’s Bookshop to win a special prize basket with items from IndieBound-Naperville merchants. It’s also a fun thing for kids to do when school is out for the holidays.

Quigley’s Irish Pub, complete with gift cards good for any time all year,  is located at 43 E. Jefferson St. in downtown  Naperville in the lower level of the Jefferson Hill Shops. Cheers!
