One of the most unforgettable romantic stories ever written that first captured the nations attention as a best-selling novel, then became an award winning film, is now an irresistible, two-time Tony Award winning Broadway musical. Francesca Johnson, a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-torn Italy, looks forward to a few days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads to the 1965 State Fair. When ruggedly handsome National Geographic photographer Robert Kincaid pulls into her driveway seeking directions, a chance encounter becomes a four-day whirlwind romance caught between decision and desire offering a second chance at so much more. This sweeping romance about the roads we travel, the doors we open and the bridges we dare to cross will leave audiences breathless.

After devastating disasters, help folks shop locally everywhere

With friends and survivors in Texas, Florida and along the Gulf Coast weighing heavily on in our hearts, we’re mindful the “shop locally” concept applies to every community in the world. Instead of shopping here to send supplies to Houston, southeast Texas and Florida for distribution, perhaps send money to The Salvation Army so folks hurt by the floods can purchase items locally to support businesses down there, helping to restore their economy in the coming months, even years.

Think about it. Help when possible. Thanks!

Meson Sabika
Meson Sabika again will open its doors for  complimentary Thanksgiving dinners. All seats have been reserved at this time. Tapas Valencia in Chicago also is opening its doors. To reserve a spot in Chicago, call (312) 842-4444.

And… Throughout September, folks had an opportunity from Meson Sabika and the Rotary Club of Naperville to help raise funds for American Red Cross to benefit Hurricane Harvey disaster relief. Both organizations matched donations up to $10,000 through Sept. 30, 2017, and in the end, the total amount of money raised through these efforts was $42,280.  This total included a combination of donations: $6,300 came from Rotarians, $10,000 in additional funds was donated from the Rotary Club of Naperville, and $15,000 was donated from Meson Sabika.

And… keep all the folks in Texas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Puerto Rico in your thoughts and prayers for safe keeping. This season has been deluged with natural disasters from hurricanes in the Atlantic to wildfires in California to an earthquake in Mexico.

Congratulations to Bell Ringer Eddie Crowder outside Casey’s Foods where the first gold and silver coins of the holiday season were collected on Nov. 14, 2017.

Looking toward the future of volunteerism,  The Salvation Army offers free volunteer training for folks available to help in the wake of disasters.

This week Salvation Army bells began ringing all over town. Again, many thanks for giving when you can!

Thanks to everyone, all ages, for stepping up with generous hearts to help raise funds for hurricane relief and first responders.

Give blood if you can. 0+ and 0- are needed!
