The Education Center of Developmental Resources will once again host the annual Kids Best Friend Benefit and Awards Dinner and highlight the contributions of several individuals who support the community, families, kids, and the elderly. This years awards and winners are: Kids Best Friend Award Jeffrey and Stephanie Jones Kastelic, Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home Outstanding Community Leader Award Commander Ken Parcel, Naperville Police Department Making a Difference Award Kitty Ryan, Naperville Community Unit School District 203 George and Pat Pradel Humanitarian Award- Nick and Teresa Ryan, Marquette Companies and Ryan Hill Realty Business Partner Award Rosebud Restaurants-Naperville The Kids Best Friend Benefit and Awards Dinner will be held on Friday, October 14, in the Hilton Lisle/Naperville Grand Ballroom. UPDATE, Oct. 15, 2016 / Photos from the inaugural Pumpkin Race on Oct. 15 present pretty pictures of the potential of this popular event with origins in California. Plan to participate on the track by Rotary Hill in 2017. The family-friendly event promises even more fun next year. Just don’t try to disguise a cantaloupe or a watermelon as a pumpkin under the threat of being smashed.  (A gallery of photos depicting the heats of the contest will be coming soon with a story of the results.)

1st Annual Naperville Pumpkin Race Festival – noon | Free

Caseys Foods located at Naperville Plaza will be firing up its grill every Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 2PM through October, weather permitting. Choose from a variety of options, including burgers, brats, tacos or the weekly special. Its great food, at a good price, in a fun atmosphere.  Inside the supermarket, find plenty of seasonal favorites in the produce department. Plus, Casey’s is just around the bend from Oswald’s, a seasonal supply stop for all your Halloween costumes, cards and candies. Both Casey’s and Oswald’s are open Sunday.

34th Annual CROP Walk  – 1:30PM |
