Naperville COVID-19 community update Feb. 3

-

State officials announced today, Wednesday, Feb. 3, that Region 8 – the public health region containing DuPage County – has met the necessary metrics to move into Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan. Entering this less-restrictive stage reflects progress in slowing the spread of COVID-19. All of Naperville is now operating under Phase 4.

Phase 4 loosens limits on gathering sizes and building capacities. Under these regulations:

  • Indoor dining and drinking are permitted for parties of up to 10 people;
  • Retail and personal care businesses can operate at up to 50% capacity;
  • Meetings, social events and indoor recreation activities can take place for the lesser of 50 people or 50% capacity.

A full explanation of what is allowed under Phase 4 is available on the State’s website.

This change in mitigations for DuPage County comes two days after the same change for the health region containing Will County, which went into effect Monday, Feb. 1. Naperville residents in both DuPage and Will counties are encouraged to continue following precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19. Such precautions include avoiding unnecessary gatherings, getting vaccinated when it is your turn and following the 3Ws – WASH your hands, WATCH your distance and WEAR a mask.
