Stamp Out Hunger transforms the lives of millions, including the over 9,000 individuals served weekly by Loaves & Fishes. Organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers, this nationwide initiative propels generosity and mobilizes communities in the fight against hunger and food insecurity. For over three decades, it has collected an astonishing 1.9 billion pounds of food, marking it as the largest one-day food drive in the nation.
The impact of Stamp Out Hunger on Loaves & Fishes is profound, particularly as summer approaches—a time when families grappling with food insecurity face heightened challenges when children are out of school. Traditional food donations slow during this time as the demand for assistance surges. This food drive helps to keep our shelves stocked. Last year, Stamp Out Hunger brought in 60,000 pounds of food locally, and this year, the goal is 100,000 pounds—a target we can reach with your support.
On May 11, you can make a difference by placing a bag of non-perishable, unexpired items by your mailbox for your postal carrier to collect. Your postal carrier or a Loaves & Fishes volunteer will pick up your donation and deliver it to our Food Distribution Hub. You can also contribute directly to our Virtual Food Drive on our website. Every donation on this day contributes to Stamp Out Hunger.
Stamp Out Hunger brings together people from all walks of life, letter carriers, volunteers, donors, and recipients, to work towards a common goal, alleviating hunger. It exemplifies the abundant generosity and inherent kindness within our local community and society. On May 11, you can be a part of it!
