With memories of a large group of volunteers that served dinners on Christmas Day at the Marriott for many years, this year volunteers will deliver Christmas meals to participants on December 24.
The YMCA and Naperville Park District, through the generous support of community donors and volunteers, will continue the annual tradition of providing a special Christmas meal for Naperville seniors and families in need. This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, it is not possible to host the annual Christmas luncheon. Instead, volunteers will deliver meals to the homes of Naperville seniors and families by early afternoon on Christmas Eve. Reheating instructions for meals will be provided.
To make a meal reservation, contact Marcia McKenna at mmckenna@ymcachicago.org or at (630) 579-5705 and provide your name, home address, phone number, email and the number of meals needed.
There is a maximum of two meals per household. Individuals interested in receiving a meal are encouraged to make a reservation as soon as possible, as meals will be provided for up to 200 people and reservations may fill before the December 16 deadline. Recipients must be Naperville residents and must be at home on Christmas Eve between the hours of 10AM and 2PM to receive their meal.
“Each year the Community Christmas luncheon brings warmth and happiness to Naperville seniors and others who may otherwise feel alone at Christmas,” said Ray McGury, executive director of the Naperville Park District.
“The YMCA is proud to partner with the Naperville Park District again to bring joy to families in our community,” added Stephanie Kuzelis, executive director of the Fry Family YMCA. “This year especially, in the midst of a pandemic, we believe it is necessary to safely continue traditions to bring our community together as one. A special thank you to the donors and volunteers who make this joyous event possible.”
