To slow spread of COVID-19, new mitigations begin Oct. 23 in DuPage and Will Counties

-

Above / Here along the Riverwalk, there, and everywhere… Follow local protocols aimed to keep everybody safe. Thanks for supporting local restaurants and small businesses whenever possible. It’s always possible.

Beginning Friday, Oct. 23, new and more stringent measures will be put in place in DuPage and Will counties to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The enhanced mitigation efforts were announced by the Governor’s Office on Tuesday in response to Naperville’s two health regions reporting three consecutive days of average test positivity rates exceeding 8 percent.

The additional prevention measures include a ban on indoor dining, an 11PM closing time for all bars and restaurants, and a cap of 25 people or 25 percent room capacity for all gatherings, social events and meetings, among other restrictions. A complete summary of the changes can be found on the State’s website.

These additional mitigations will remain in effect for 14 days. During that time, health officials will continue to track the regions’ positivity rate to determine if the mitigations should remain in place, if mitigations can be relaxed or if additional mitigations are required for one or both of the regions Naperville falls within.
