Don’t Panic and Heat Up Your Sales

-

“Houston, we have a problem.” Our lives have been changed due to the virus. Since we are a group of positive and enthusiastic professionals, we know this invisible and cunning pest will be eliminated.

Continue to sell. Some of your customers may work for essential businesses. Your priority is to ensure they get what they order, delivered on time and priced correctly. Remember to follow up.

Maintain contact with customers who are not working due to the Stay Home directive. Send them a card in the mail once in a while. Text them a funny virus-meme. Don’t call them. I had a few folks call me trying to establish a new relationship. Even after I told them our business had been suspended and trying to make payroll, they still attempted to set an appointment.

Exercise every day. Set a goal and schedule a workout for those days in your calendar. Keep those appointments. This is the perfect time to stop procrastinating on this important activity. My goal is to workout a minimum three days a week for 30 minutes. (Update next month.)

Give blood and volunteer if you can. Plenty of places want help. “Meals on Wheels” is in need of volunteer drivers. Other places are listed on Facebook or at Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Continuous improvement. Read a book. Sign up for on-line workshop. Try something new. You’ll have a great story to share when the world is once again safe.

Stay focused during office hours. Do not mow the lawn or open the pool. If you have kids, have morning coffee break with them. Have lunch with them; you have to eat (you will never forget these memories). And stay away from them until you shut down your computer for the day. Maintain discipline.

Remember to check in on your elderly family member, friend, or neighbor. Communicate with them during this time and monitor their health.

We will get past the virus. Very smart people are doing their best to ensure we all get safely back to our lives. The economy will breathe again and it will soon be time to Heat Up Your Sales.
