Update with video message on happenings at 360 Youth Services

-

Above / 360 Youth Services has participated in the can-do spirit of Naperville ever since the agency began in 1971 as the teen-focused nonprofit organization founded as “Naperville Community Outreach.” Back then a group of concerned parents, community and religious leaders recognized the need for professional, youth-centered services in the Naperville community, a need that continues today, now under the leadership of Judie Caribeaux. A video message from 360 Youth & Services CEO Judie Caribeaux

Dear friends,

Life is full of setbacks; this is to be expected. For many of us, the current situation is disruptive and inconvenient and for others, it is a complete derailing of the life they were building.

Our clients were already navigating challenges when they came to 360; now their progress and well-being are at risk. They are being challenged in an overwhelming and ever evolving time. Our staff has had to constantly adapt to the needs of our clients, providing even more care and support during this difficult time.

It’s OK for all of us to be feeling a lot of emotions right now. If your emotions feel overwhelming, please know there are resources to connect you with someone 24/7 so you can share with someone who will listen. Even during isolation, there are resources you can access from home if you need someone to talk to get support or help remaining safe.

Crisis text line: text REACH to 741741

If you prefer to talk to someone, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

And if you want to be sure the support is LGBTQ+ affirming, call or text The Trevor Project at 1-866-488-7386.

Like everyone, the staff at 360 Youth Services is staying in constant contact with multiple agencies and outlets in order to stay informed and take the actions necessary to protect our clients and our staff. We are committed to doing what is best for youth and their families in this community.

We want you to know the following:

We are diligently cleaning, practicing social distancing, and have prohibited meetings and visitors except for those essential to the care of our youth.

Counseling: We are meeting with our clients and their families and have moved to virtual counseling sessions. Updates can be found on our counseling page. We understand there is the potential for heightened anxiety and other issues during this time and we are committed to being available for our clients.

Prevention: With schools closed, we are not providing any sessions in schools at this time.

Snowball: Our Spring Operation Snowball 2020 scheduled for April is cancelled. Please reach out through the Snowball page on our website, here, for more information.

Housing: We remain in operation with modifications and suggestions for residents and are following a detailed safety and prevention plan to limit and prevent the spread of potential infection.

Cornerstone: Our youth-in-care facility continues to run 24/7 providing care for our 7 youth in residence. We are allowing only essential staff and visitors.

Transitional Housing: Our young adults are home from school and/or receiving limited or reduced hours at work. They are following the same guidance from the WHO to prevent the spread of infection. Our staff is checking in on them daily via phone and virtual platforms.

If you would like to help 360 during this time:

Donation of basic supplies. Like everyone, we need toilet paper, wipes, and other disinfectants. While shopping, if available, please grab an extra for us and schedule a drop off at the main office on Oswego Road by calling or emailing Sarah Tesch at stesch@360youthservices.org or 630-961-2992 ext. 1127.

Cash donations. We are in the same situation as many, where we need to pay the bills when revenue is uncertain. We rely on our community to help us maintain our programs that guide young clients to safety and healing.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support! You are a valuable part of the 360 family.
