At 7:29PM on Tuesday evening (12/31/19), Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call for the report of fire in the attic of a single-family residence located in the 1200 block of Andria Court. Naperville 911(PSAP) dispatched a General Alarm assignment to the reported address which brought 11 pieces of fire apparatus and 25 fire personnel to the scene. An additional Naperville Fire Department Medic unit was also requested to the scene.

The first unit arrived on the scene at 7:35PM and reported fire showing from the single-family residence. The Fire units entered the structure and found a fire in the attic of the residence. All occupants of the home safely exited the home prior to the arrival of the fire units. Two occupants of the residence were evaluated on the scene. They did not require further medical care.

The fire attack was initiated by stretching a hose line into the second floor of the structure. The fire was extinguished and confined to the area of origin. Upon the arrival of additional fire companies, salvage and overhaul operations were performed. An inspector from Naperville’s Transportation, Engineering and Development (TED) was also notified.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and the residence was deemed uninhabitable.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, the Naperville Electric Department (NED), Nicor Gas Company and the American Red Cross. The West Chicago Fire Department, Bolingbrook Fire Department, Wheaton Fire Department, and the Warrenville Fire Protection District provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.

Report submitted by Thomas Moran, Bureau Chief, Naperville Fire Department.
