On Mon., Dec. 30, 2019, between the hours of 12 midnight and 3AM, Naperville Police officers responded to reports of burglaries to four businesses at various locations throughout the city. In each of the incidents, entry was forced through the business’s front glass doors or windows, and cash registers and ATMs were targeted by the offenders.
The businesses, located in the 600 S. Washington St., 2900 Artesian Rd. 3100 S. Rt. 59 and 4000 S. Rt. 59 blocks, were all closed at the time of the incidents. The offenders are believed to be working in groups and take measures to conceal their identities. They are believed to be using darker colored SUV’s as their mode of transportation.
If anyone has any information or security camera recordings related to these incidents, they are encouraged to call the Naperville Police Department at (630) 420-6666.
Report submitted by Commander Mike Son, Public Information Officer, for the Naperville Police Department.

Commander Mike Son also provided information regarding 21 reported tire slashings, spray-painted vehicles and other incidents of property vandalism that occurred Dec. 27 though Dec. 28, 2019, in southeast Naperville (Walnut Ridge and other developments) between Royce Road and 87th Street.
Most incidents occurred overnight Dec. 27 and Dec. 28, but some were delayed in reporting, Son said.
The suspect vehicle (unknown color, possibly four doors) contained multiple occupants.
Again, anyone with information or security camera recordings related to these incidents is encouraged to call the Naperville Police Department non-emergency number at (630) 420-6666.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve Safely
The Naperville Police Department again will participate in a national enforcement campaign to crack down on impaired and unbuckled drivers through Jan. 2, 2020.
“If your celebration will involve alcohol, please plan ahead for a sober ride home and always remember to buckle up – it’s the best defense against an impaired driver,” stated Naperville Police Sgt. Derek Zook earlier in December.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System, 839 people lost their lives in traffic crashes involving a drunk driver last December. Throughout the 2018 Christmas and New Year’s holidays alone, there were 285 drunk-driving-related fatalities – more than any other time that year.
Keep these tips in mind to help ensure a safe New Year:
• Before you head to the party, designate a sober driver or plan to use public transportation or a ride sharing service to get home safely.
• If you see an impaired driver on the road, pull over and call your local police department.
• Have a friend who is about to drive impaired? Take their keys and help them get home safely.
• Always buckle up!
The Illinois “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign is administered and funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal highway safety funds managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
