The Little Friends’ Parade of Lights is Friday, November 29

-

UPDATE, Nov. 30, 2019 / The 2019 Little Friends Parade of Lights is now a bright memory of the kickoff to the holiday season. Thanks to Jason Altenbern of Little Friends and Katie Wood of the Downtown Naperville Alliance for providing the narrative color and putting the spotlight on the city’s community spirit. The Thanksgiving holiday will soon be upon us. While admittedly my favorite holiday of the year, on behalf of all of Little Friends, we truly hope that you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday weekend. We hope your day is filled with plenty of family fun to go with all of the turkey, dressing, and pumpkin pie. If you’re lucky, maybe even a nap will be in store after one of the best meals of the year!

The celebration on Thursday becomes the kickoff for the Christmas holiday shopping. Being first or near the beginning of the lines for the store openings can be a great opportunity to get some wonderful savings on presents. It can also lead to very little sleep depending upon when you head out for shopping on Black Friday!

The importance of all of this is that we hope you are able to participate in all of your Thanksgiving holiday traditions and leave some time for the Parade of Lights scheduled for Fri., Nov. 29. The Little Friends Parade of Lights will be held in downtown Naperville starting at 7PM. Intended to be a family event with plenty of celebration, the highlight, of course, is when Santa and Mrs. Claus make their way down the streets and ultimately to the house on the Riverwalk where children can visit.

In recent years past, the event was held on the first weekend following Thanksgiving. In looking at the timing of the parade when Santa makes his way to his house for children to visit, it only made sense to move the parade to the day after Thanksgiving. Fortunately, others in the City agreed and the event will now be held on the Friday evening following Thanksgiving.

We’re excited to announce that a number of fun activities and performances are being put together for the event. The Parade of Lights has been hosted by Little Friends for a number of years, and our ambition is to make this bigger and better than what we’ve done in the past.

We hope you can make it, and hope that your children come with you to enjoy a special time that evening!
