Join the Naperville Police Department for the Dunkin’ Cop on a Rooftop event on Friday, May 17 and help them in support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois! A donation of any amount will earn you a coupon for a free donut. Guests donating at least $10 will receive a Law Enforcement Torch Run travel mug (while supplies last) and a coupon for a free medium coffee. Other items, such as Torch Run T-shirts, hats and pins will also be sold for various donation amounts.

Neuqua Valley, Metea Valley and Waubonsie Valley High Schools
From 9AM to 4PM student band, choir and orchestra performances as well as fine artwork will be featured at all three high schools in School District 204.  Each Fine Art Festival will be distinguished by the work of the elementary and middle schools that feed into the different high schools.

Healing Fields 2019 Prelude to Event with Brief Program– 10AM | Free

American Legion Post 43 is participating in Naperville’s 2019 Healing Fields.  A short program opening the event will take place at 10AM Sat., May 18, at the World War I Doughboy Sculpture in Naperville’s Burlington Park.  Supporters are encouraged to attend as plans are set to honor Veterans and those that made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of freedom. The 2019 Healing Field with 2019 American flags will grace Rotary Hill along the Riverwalk for the week of Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

Civil War Days – 10AM | $10-$15. $15/adult, $10/youth ( 4-12); Free admission for members and children under 4

Naper Settlement is transformed into a Civil War encampment where visitors can meet famous figures of the past and experience firsthand a turbulent period in our nations history. Hundreds of reenactors participate, culminating in a battle complete with raging cannons and marching infantry. This family-friendly event features food, fun, music, and shopping on Sutlers Row for traditional Civil War-era reproduction products. The battle begins at 2:30PM each day. The Weed Ladies will be selling spring silk and dried florals in the Daniels House. Info at www.napersettlement.org.

The 18th annual Jeanine Nicarico Memorial Fund GLOW 5K, a 5K family run/walk to support literacy, fitness and family, will take place on 5th Avenue/Plank Road in Naperville. All proceeds will go to the Jeanine Nicarico Memorial Fund for Literacy to acquire and distribute resources that provide enriched literacy opportunities for learners within the Naperville community. Casey’s Foods located at Naperville Plaza will be firing up its grill every Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 2PM through October, weather permitting. Choose from a variety of options, including burgers, brats, tacos or the weekly special. Add a dollar and get chips and a drink. It’s great food, at a good price, in a fun atmosphere.

Memorial Day Parade steps off 10:30AM Mon., May 27

In addition to marching with Veterans and service organizations in the Memorial Day Parade at 10:30AM Mon., May 27, the Naperville Municipal Band will perform all-American music at 12:15PM during the Memorial Day Observance in Central Park.  During the 30-minute program, patriotic songs, short speeches and a wreath-laying ceremony will pay tribute to sacrifices of service men, women and families to defend freedom worldwide.

Then its summer series of 11 outdoor concerts in Central Park begins at 7:30PM Thurs., June 6, and continues every Thursday evening through August 15 when the huge stage door goes up at the Naperville Community Concert Center. Park benches will be waiting where plenty of space also is available for blankets, portable chairs, picnics and more during the concerts. All Naperville Municipal Band concerts are free of admission charge. Central Park is located just south of 104 E. Benton Avenue and north of Jefferson Avenue in downtown Naperville. Stay tuned!
