ignite the nightuntitledPOSTED March 28, 2016 / For the fifth year in a row, Naperville’s School of Performing Arts has signed on as presenting sponsor of Ignite the Nite, a concert to benefit KidsMatter, set for 7PM on Sat., April 16, at Wentz Concert Hall on the campus of North Central College.

The 2016 concert, followed by a fundraising dinner at 8:20PM, will celebrate the talents and abilities of all Naperville youth and honor several organizations that support Youth Mental, Developmental and Behavioral Health in the community. WGN radio personality and Naperville resident Steve Cochran will host the concert and VIP Dinner.

“The School of Performing Arts and KidsMatter share a common goal of building self-awareness, self-esteem, cooperation, communication skill, behavioral self-management and mental health in young people,” said Barbara Yokom, founder of the School of Performing Arts. “In our teaching and not-for-profit endeavors at the school, we see the effective role the arts can play in aiding emotional, mental and behavioral health in both young people and adults.”

Yokum thinks events such Ignite the Nite are a great expression of how the arts help meet that goal.

“KidsMatter is an organization that cares about the well-being of our kids and creates opportunities for our children to become caring, capable and successful adults,” Yokum added.  “We are truly proud to help them continue to make such a difference in so many lives.”
