George Friederic Handel’s well-regarded and popular work, Messiah, will spark the holiday spirit in the Naperville community beginning at 7PM Fri., December 4, 2015, in the awe-inspiring setting of Saints Peter and Paul Church in downtown Naperville.
Maestro Matthew Sprinkle will lead the Saints Peter and Paul Choir and Orchestra in a breathtaking performance of Handel’s epic masterpiece.
This annual Messiah Christmas concert serves as a local tradition and an integral part of Christmas in Naperville. The concert not only features the Christmas portion and Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s “Messiah,” but gives opportunity for the audience to start the holiday season with the singing of some of their favorite Christmas Carols.
The Children’s Choirs of Saints Peter and Paul will lead the audience in the singing of the carols, as well as present a few beautiful choral pieces that will captivate your heart and warm your soul.
The Saints Peter and Paul Adult Choir has the unique distinction of being one of the most outstanding Church choirs in the metropolitan area. Its repertoire includes not only the Western world’s finest choral masterpieces, but also contemporary literature, 21st Century American choral music, Gregorian Chant to renaissance polyphony , and commissioned works.
The choir performed in Rome, Italy in April, 2014, as part of the Celebration of the Canonization of John XXIII and John Paul II, singing the Vigil Mass, the evening before the Canonization, at Saint Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City.
