The public is welcome to attend an evening of wine tasting with an opportunity to learn more about Respite Endowment Organization and the new programs the nonprofit agency is planning for 2016.
The fundraising event will be hosted at Peterson Spirits and Fine Wines from 7-9PM Sat., Oct. 24, at its location in the Butera Market Shopping Center, 1274 E. Chicago Avenue.
Refreshments will be catered by Pepe’s Mexican Restaurants.
“REOrg cordially invites you to attend and learn about our new ‘drop-off’ respite programming roll-out for 2016,” e-mailed Becky Pundy.
“Additional respite options, means more support and help for families… Come for a relaxing evening, learn more about us and enter to win exciting prizes!”
Founded by Pundy in 2013, Respite Endowment Organization is a private, nonprofit social service agency dedicated to providing rest gifts, education and opportunities to parents of children with special needs.
By supporting and taking care of parents with special needs children, respite helps take care of families.
According to their website, REOrg fills the gap for families waiting years on the Illinois PUNS list (Prioritization for Urgency of Need for Services). Programs are designed to prevent neglect and abuse of children, support parents feeling stressed/depressed and supply relief for caregivers. Focus is on rest, awareness education, and opportunities for breaks.
The three main areas of focus currently are gifts (donations of theater tickets, spa outings, hotel nights, dining-out gift certificates, etc.), education (community awareness) and support opportunities (services in partnership with Bright Star of Naperville).
Reservations to the wine tasting are accepted online at www.respiteendowment.org or guests can pay at the door.
