Offensive Player of the Week
Metea Valley senior quarterback Conner Lovely
Metea Valley’s Conner Lovely overcame the last of his three interceptions to help lead Metea Valley to a come-from-behind, 29-28 victory over Naperville North. Lovely’s six-yard TD pass to Brad Fekety with 51 seconds left in regulation gave the Mustangs their first lead. He completed 17-of-31 passes for 301 yards with three TDs and three INTs. A 50-yard TD strike to Jordan Cagigal following a pick-six cut the Huskies lead to 28-21 with 4:22 to play in the game to start the comeback from down 28-15.
Defensive Player of the Week
Benet junior safety Alec McEachern
Alec McEachern, courtesy of a safety and a fumble recovery for a TD, got Tim Cederblad’s charges jumpstarted during Benet’s 41-3 victory over O’Fallon. The Redwings forced three turnovers against the Panthers and McEachern was responsible for the Redwings’ first nine points. His tackle of Illinois-bound running back Kentrail Moran in the end zone opened the scoring in the first quarter and – moments later – he recovered a Moran fumble forced by Ryan Liszka and took it to the house.
