On Tues., April 16, Marmion Academy will host a Dedication and Blessing for the newly renovated Varsity Baseball Facility – Regole Park, located at 1000 Butterfield Road in Aurora.
Construction of the new, artificial turf infield, new batting cages, and bullpen areas began in the spring of last year and were completed last month, just in time for the start of the season.
The funding for this project was made possible by the generous bequest of Ed Regole, a 1950 graduate of Marmion. Regole was a treasured and committed friend of Marmion from the day he graduated until the day he died. He and his wife Vivienne’s generous support through the years allowed Marmion to make multiple and very impactful enhancements to its facilities, including the Regole Natatorium, the Regole Science Center, the Regole Field House, and most recently, Regole Stadium.
Not only did Regole support Marmion with his generosity during his lifetime, but it was also very important to him to provide the academy with a “game-changing” gift upon his passing in August 2022. His generous bequest has allowed Marmion to make multiple, state-of-the-art renovations to its athletic facilities, benefiting six sports and the band program —renovations that will have a lasting impact on the Marmion community and on generations of students for years to come.
“Marmion was a special place to Ed; he considered his gifts through the years to be his legacy,” said Director of Planned Giving and longtime friend, Fr. Charles Reichenbacher, OSB ’59.
Dedication and Blessing at 4:15PM / Game at 4:30PM
The Dedication and Blessing will begin at 4:15PM on Tues., April 16, followed by the varsity game when the Marmion Cadets will take on Leo Lions of Leo High School in Chicago.
The game will begin at 4:30PM with the ceremonial first pitch being thrown by Ed Regole’s son, Mark Regole.
