Things to Do Around Naperville Father’s Day Weekend: June 19-21

Naper Nights Community Concert Series – 5PM | $15

Naper Nights sets the stage for three summer weekends in June, July and August of nonstop music. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy music under the stars on the beautiful grounds of Naper Settlement throughout the summer. No outside food or beverages are allowed. Friday, June 19 features The Neverly Brothers and American English. Saturday, June 20 features OMT and Elevation (U2 Tribute). Tickets are $15 adult/senior; $10 youth (ages 4-12); under 4 years of age and Naper Settlement members are free. www.napersettlement.org.

Gardener’s Art Festival – 9AM | Free

Our annual Gardeners Art Festival features more than 35 local garden artists, live music, and entertaining talks. 11:00am: The Art of Bees Ed Bell, Ed.D. (aka Dr. B.) owner of Belfry Bees & Honey will take you through the art of bee keeping with a basic overview of how to get started and what flowers attract bees the best. He will also be selling his honey throughout the day. 11AM-3PM: Art in the Garden The Nature Artist Guild of the Morton Arboretum will be painting and drawing in the garden center’s Learning Gardens. 1PM: The Evolution of a Garden Join Susan Borghesi, perennial gardener and ceramic artist/sculptor of whimsical and organic works of art, as she shares her 40-year journey as a perennial gardener. Her love of nature has has helped her recognize the shifts and changes that occur and the many lessons we can learn during this process. 2-5PM: Live music from The Pete Ellman Big Band.

Oswald’s Customer Appreciation Day – 9AM-6PM | Free
Oswald’s Pharmacy – Naperville Plaza, Washington Street at Gartner Road.
Celebrating its first 140 years in Naperville, Oswald’s Pharmacy is growing!  During Oswald’s Customer Appreciation Day, refreshments and special discounts (excluding stamps, prescriptions, lottery, and sale items) will be offered to all customers! Refreshments will include cheese assortments, plus Forté Iced Teas and Graber Olives, both of which are available for purchase in the store.

Casey’s Fires Up the Grill  – 11AM-2PM | Specials start at $5
Casey’s Foods in Naperville Plaza  – Washington Street at Gartner Road.
Today’s grilling will be repeated every Saturday and Sunday with lunchtime favorites until next fall. Picnic tables provide seating under cover.  Casey’s also has a variety of specialty cakes for special occasions in its bakery. Remember grads and dads this month. Find vintage vehicles and antique automobiles on exhibit just in time to watch creatively colored car sculptures roll into Downtown Naperville for the summer. Gear up for Father’s Day on Sunday.

Hinsdale Orchestra and Chorus to Perform in Naperville – 7:30PM | $24

The West Suburban Symphony and its chorus, under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductor Peter Lipari, perform a concert of music inspired by stories of love lost, at 7:30PM Saturday, June 20, at Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Avenue, Naperville. The concert, entitled rendezvous, features familiar music inspired by the tale of Romeo and Juliet, composed by Bellini, Berlioz, Bernstein, Svendsen and Tchaikovsky. Rounding out the program are popular selections from Verdis Aida, Wagners Lohengrin, Puccinis Madame Butterfly, Donizettis Lucia di Lammermoor, and Herberts Naughty Marietta. This concert is filled with beautiful melodies and magical moments, says Symphony president Richard Lukes Lipari, who has led orchestras, bands, choruses, and musical stage productions in the United States and abroad to rave reviews for more than 20 years, has served as the Societys music director since 2001. Each Sunday through Aug. 30 (with the exception of July 12), admission to our museum includes free sundaes from Culvers with do-it-yourself toppings, hands-on family activities and tours of historic buildings. Ice cream is served from 2-3:30PM and limited to the first 250 guests. Admission is $12 adult, $10 senior (62+), $8 youth (4-12), Naperville residents and members are free. www.napersettlement.org.
