‘Dentistry From the Heart’ Will Provide Free Dental Care on June 14

The 2nd Annual Dentistry from the Heart Event by Thomas E. Brown, DDS, will be held from 7AM to 2PM Sun., June 14.

Dentistry from the Heart is a registered nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free dental care—cleanings, extractions and fillings— to those in need. Started by one dentist in 2001, the group has grown to thousands of dentists nationwide.

“So many times we find visitors to our Township offices are in need of urgent dental care, but cannot manage it financially or have no insurance,” said Jan Barbour, Naperville Township Community Relations. “Dental health is a necessary part of overall physical health. We hope those in need will be able to take advantage of this unique opportunity.”

“We want to make sure we get the word out to the community, so that we can serve as many people that can benefit from free dental care,” said Elyse Verdeyen, spokewoman for the local event.

Cleanings, extractions and fillings will be provided on first-come, first-serve basis. The first 50 patients, age 18 and up, who register that morning are guaranteed to be seen. Dress for the weather as waiting may be outside.

The event will be held at Dr. Brown’s office, 1807 S. Washington Street, Suite 107.

High School Singers Wanted!

Auditions for the 2015 ‘Singing for Seniors’ scholarship will be held June 10 at Community Christian Church. The auditions are open to singers from Naperville area high schools who have just completed their junior year. One student will not only be awarded the $1,000 performing arts scholarship to the college/university of his or her choice, but will also appear as a featured performer at the 16th Annual Singing for Seniors event on October 4, 2015.

Celebrating 16 years of providing an engaging afternoon of free entertainment to Naperville area senior citizens, Executive Producer Gary Leavenworth beams at the chance to award one area high school junior with the scholarship that comes with the opportunity to share love of performance with perhaps the most appreciative audience in town.

“No one can know this level of performance satisfaction until they take the stage and look across the audience of 800+ area seniors and see and feel the joy on their faces!” said Leavenworth. “Most high school students never have the opportunity to embrace the senior sector until much later in life and we are thrilled to provide it,” he added.

For more information about the scholarship auditions, visit www.singingforseniors.org or call (630) 343-9818.

ALERT! Beware of Scammers

Beware of phone, e-mail and Internet scams. Never, never give your password, credit card number or social security number to an unknown caller over the telephone or via e-mail. No matter how convincing a professional scammer might seem, never give any personal information to someone you don’t know at any time.

Reports of scammers with official-sounding “Naperville” business names are growing. To be safe, say “NO!” to all suspicious-sounding solicitors. Say “Naperville is a scam-free community.”

If an individual calls or comes to your door from any company attempting to represent the NPD or the city, contact (630) 420-6142.
