Friends and families are welcome to a fun-filled autumn afternoon during the 3rd Annual Naperville Plaza Fall Festival. The free event is slated from 11AM to 3PM on Sat., Oct. 25.
Organizers have arranged for new attractions such as the Ice Princesses and a Petting Zoo to be among many favorites where kids will delight in having their photos taken. Be sure to bring a camera.
In previous years, what seemed even more interesting than all the sweet treats available at participating merchants was that many parents noted special activities “tricked” the costumed youngsters into learning.
Just outside the entrance to Casey’s Foods, youngsters will have a chance to talk with firefighters, sit in the cab of a fire truck and to learn a few safety tips during Fire Prevention Month, noted Bill Anderson, owner of Oswald’s Pharmacy, where families can celebrate inside and outside.
Inside Oswald’s, costumed youngsters will find creative activities and ghoulish goodies.
First Community Financial Bank again will host an interactive activity similar to the popular corral of horses that attracted many families last year.
“We’re sponsoring a petting zoo this year….should be a hoot,” said Mary Jane Leisten, personal banker at FCFB. “Friendly Farms out of DeKalb is bringing the animals and the children can pet and feed them.”
The petting zoo with approximately 25 farmyard animals—including goats, sheep, ducks, geese, chickens, pot-bellied pig and bunny rabbit—will be set up near Colonial Café, the most protected spot just off the large parking lot and within view of First Community Financial Bank where folks also can visit for treats.
The Ice Princesses will be featured at the Sherwin Williams Paint Store, Suite 116, where youngsters will be able meet and greet the stars from “a world of wonder where heroes and hearts prevail.”
Leisten added that a number of “soon-to-be announced” activities are being planned by participating merchants and charitable organizations.
Meanwhile, Oswald’s also is chock full of seasonal decorations, greeting cards, Halloween candy & Naperville novelty gifts, perfect for mailing from the U.S. Post Office located in the back of the store.
Casey’s offers a cornucopia of gourds and pumpkins for seasonal decorations and recipes.
Naperville Plaza is a popular shopping destination featuring many independent merchants, located on the southwest corner at Washington and Gartner.
Editor’s Clarification: 11AM-3PM Sat., Oct. 25, 2014, is the correct time for the Naperville Plaza Fall Festival. To be clear, the date was misprinted in one of the many listings. Again, it’s Sat., Oct. 25.
