Mike and I are continuing to go to downtown Chicago at least once a month. This time we went to brunch at the Peninsula Hotel and then to see the play ‘The Last Ship.” Quite frankly, I thought that the brunch was overpriced at the Peninsula (Meson Sabika is better!). Twenty dollars for a glass of champagne is a little ridiculous – don’t you think?
Then I made a big mistake and agreed with Mike to walk from the hotel at Superior and Michigan to the theatre at Monroe and State. Unfortunately, I was wearing new sandals with heels. Never again! Even Mike said to never agree with that type of idea again. Instead, I just said that I would ignore his suggestions permanently—so much easier.
The play was very good. I think a little slow in the first act, but overall it was worth going downtown to see before it heads to Broadway in New York.
We then went to check out a new place – the Godfrey Hotel and the I/O Urban Roofscape. This hotel has a beautiful outdoor deck on the fourth floor with wonderful views, multiple bars and great people watching. If you want to go to a place to see lots of young people dressed to the nines, this is the place. Just don’t be shocked at the prices. How can people in their twenties afford a place like this? Don’t know – maybe Mom and Dad are helping!
Back in Naperville, we actually had a better time on Naper Nights on June 20. The weather was perfect. The food was provided by Hugo’s Frog & Fish Bar – and they always do a great job. The experience was just a more casual and relaxed night – perfect for Naperville. Too bad that the second night was rained out, but hopefully the next two Naper Nights weekends in July and August will be comfortable and dry. See you there.
