Teen’s View of Opera – Met: Live in HD returns this month

-

Thanks to the generosity of Fathom Events, Positively Naperville! readers will have the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to any of the Metropolitan Opera’s live movie theater broadcasts. The Emmy Award winning Met: Live in HD enters its eighth season this fall with diverse offerings such as classics like Puccini’s Tosca and Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte to less commonly performed operas such as Shostakovich’s The Nose.

Ried_emEach opera offers something unique – both onstage and in the exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews. One of the most notable events of the season is arguably Verdi’s Falstaff which not only promises an all-star cast but also marks Met music director James Levine’s return to the podium after extensive health problems. Levine is also set to conduct Cosi fan Tutte and Berg’s Wozzeck this season. Chicagoans may also be particularly interested to see Renee Fleming perform in the Dvorak’s Rusalka at the Met and to compare it with the Lyric’s upcoming production staring Ana Maria Martinez.

This month, PN is giving away a pair of tickets to the broadcasts of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin (Encore: 6:30PM, Oct 9) and Shostakovich’s The Nose (Live: 11:55AM, Oct. 5; Encore: 6:30PM, Oct. 30) at the Regal Cantera 17 in Warrenville.
