ALERT! Beware of scammers

Beware of phone, e-mail and Internet scams. Never, never give your password, credit card number or social security number to an unknown caller over the telephone or via e-mail. No matter how convincing a professional scammer might seem, never give any personal information to someone you don’t know at any time.
Reports of scammers with official-sounding “Naperville” business names are growing. To be safe, say “NO!” to all solicitors.

In addition, the Naperville Fire Department is mindful that a company calling itself Naperville Fire Safety LLC has been soliciting fire safety services. The company is not affiliated with the NPD or the city.

If an individual calls or comes to your door from any company attempting to represent the NPD or the city, contact (630) 420-6142.

Rt. 59 construction continues

Closure of Argyll Lane access from Route 59 has been postponed as of Sept. 27. Contractors are expected to close the access permanently, most likely sometime in October. The access, which is located on the west side of Rt. 59 in the southbound direction, is a planned closure as part of the expansion project.

Work began Sept. 23 with contractors removing the median in the south portion of the Rt. 59 Expansion project from North Aurora Rd. to Aurora Ave./New York St. During the next few weeks the contractors will be working overnight within this section of the project to remove the median and will replace it with temporary concrete during the day. Lane closures will be required to accommodate this work. Motorists are encouraged to allow more time for traveling in the area.

Work on the pump station located just south of the BNSF Railroad will also continue and will result in regular southbound outside lane closures beginning in October once all temporary median work has been completed in the south portion of the corridor.

In addition, contractors will continue to replace existing traffic signals with temporary signals and utility relocations are ongoing throughout the area. The expansion project will include reconstruction and widening of Rt. 59 from Ferry Rd. to Aurora Ave./New York St. as well as improvements to the major intersections within that 3-mile corridor, including Diehl Rd., North Aurora Rd. and Aurora Ave./New York St. In addition, an innovative diverging diamond configuration will be implemented at the Rt. 59 interchange with I-88 that will enhance traffic flow on and off I-88. Construction is expected to be complete in the fall of 2015.
