The Naperville Municipal Center (aka City Hall) is located at 400 S. Eagle Street at Aurora Avenue in the central business district.

City staff will be available to discuss the three strategic plan goals identified by the City Council in July as well as preliminary objectives identified by staff to support these goals. A general presentation will be given at 6:30PM; participants are welcome to come and go as needed. Attendees are encouraged to provide ideas and feedback on the goals and objectives.

An update to the City’s strategic plan began earlier this year. Based on changing demographics, economic characteristics and the addition of five square miles of land through annexations over the last 15 years, the Naperville City Council decided it was time for a new strategic plan. The priorities in the new strategic plan will assist in allocating or reallocating limited resources over the next five years and allow the City to focus on specific community goals.

At a special workshop held on July 30, Council identified three strategic plan goals. These goals were identified as areas the City was “falling behind” based on comparisons to similar communities, private sector models and resident expectations:

Be recognized as an E-government innovator.

Improve traffic flow and congestion.

Set the standard for community education and involvement.

The goals were selected by City Council from a list of nine alternatives that included topics such as community health, public safety and diversity awareness. Although only three goals were selected, the remaining topics will continue to be areas of focus by City departments. The goals are based on the results of the 2012 Citizen Satisfaction Survey and an assessment of City strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. By identifying a limited number of goals, the City believes it can be far more effective in achieving success in each area.
