Naperville is home to some fine BBQ – and our visit to newly opened Sharko’s on Route 59 at 111th St. adds one more to the list. Walking in the door, we were immediately impressed—feels like a BBQ joint in Somewhere, TX—and that’s a great start to what was an outstanding BBQ experience.
Laurie was first in line and, to her delight, Sharko’s offers BBQ by the ounce. She ordered a combo of brisket and pulled pork, along with “smoked” golden corn on the cob—very different, very good.
Brendan, our younger son, ordered his usual pulled pork sandwich and fries—the skin on variety.
Mark, a brisket junkie, ordered the sliced “King of Kings” along with sides of Tri Bean Casserole (UB = unbelievably good) with cornbread and Fresh Green Beans. The brisket rivals any Mark has found, including Sonny Bryan’s in Dallas and The Woodyard in KC.
Sweet pickles are served with all meals and, as Laurie says, “as good as Justine’s” in Charleston, SC.
All meats are smoked “low and slow” daily and include pork, chicken, ribs, brisket and some killer hot links. Delicious homemade sides include Slaw, Bacon Potato Salad, Macaroni & Cheese and more.
For dessert, Laurie and Brendan went for “On the House” Vanilla Ice Cream Cones.
Compliments to the chef are accepted – just ask for Brian Sharko – he’s usually behind the counter making sure every plate goes out just right. Brian can also be found at www.sharkosbbq.com.
Sharko’s BBQ is open Monday to Saturday 11AM to 9PM and Sunday 11AM to 8PM. Call them at (630) 717-7227.
