Public Notice
Issued by Special Events and Community Relations of the Naperville Police Department
The Naperville Public Safety Answering Point is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve re-accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards. The assessment will begin Sunday, June 30, 2013 and conclude Wednesday, July 3, 2013.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in seven basic areas: organization, direction and supervision, human resources, recruitment/selection/promotion, training, operations, and critical incidents/special operations/homeland security.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by calling (630) 305-5299 on Monday, July 1, 2013 between the hours of 1PM and 3PM. Comments will be taken by the assessment team. The assessors are Bill Bleyle, Commissioner of the Onondaga County (NY) Department of Emergency Communications and Debbie Gailbreath, Accreditation Manager for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Communications Center.
Telephone comments are limited to ten (10) minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. The standards are available for viewing at the police department, 1350 Aurora Avenue, through Emergency Communications Supervisor Stacey Edwards, (630) 420-6026.
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Naperville Public Safety Answering Point’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commision on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard – Suite 320, Gainseville, VA 20155 or email calea@calea.org.
