Naperville Jaycees will honor eight individuals with Distinguished Service Awards

-

The Naperville Jaycees will present their 35th Annual Distinguished Service Awards beginning at 6PM Fri., April 5, at the Lisle/Naperville Hilton.  The annual tribute is a time to recognize local individuals for their community spirit and dedication to Naperville. This year’s emcee will be Rick Eertmoed. Mayor A. George Pradel will receive the Charles “Chuck” Bueche Lifetime Achievement award along with seven additional award category winners.

“The Distinguished Service Award provides the Naperville Jaycees with a unique opportunity to highlight and recognize people throughout the community who give unselfishly to make our town a great place to live and work,” said Shoshana Frank, Naperville Jaycees DSA Committee, vice chair. “These people contribute their time and talent for the good of the whole, without any expectation of personal return, this awards program allows us to praise their unsung stories.”

In mid-March the committee announced the recipients of the 2013 Distinguished Service Awards.  Individuals are nominated from members of the community in eight categories, including the Lifetime Achievement DSA. The 2013 recipients are:

  • Business Professional: Brien Nagle, Attorney at Law
  • Community Leader: Thomas Carroll
  • Student Volunteer: Austin Hansen
  • Educator: Sally Pentecost, School District 203
  • Business: Mary Ann Junkroski, Roseland Draperies & Interiors
  • Public Employee: Karen DeAngelis, City of Naperville
  • Not for Profit Leader: Peggy Frank, Naper Settlement
  • Charles “Chuck” Bueche Lifetime Achievement: Mayor A. George Pradel

“It always excites me to find out what others outside of our Jaycee world are doing for our community,” said Eertmoed. “Each and every year I’m amazed by what the award recipients have done, and that spirit is part of what makes the community such a great thing to be a part of. That attitude of helping others and community service is really part of the fabric of Naperville.”

The Naperville Jaycees welcome all residents to help spread the word and congratulate these individuals for their great efforts within our community.

Tickets are now available for the event that will be held beginning with a cocktail hour at 6PM on Fri., April 5 at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville. Tickets are on sale for $55 each and include a complimentary open bar during the cocktail hour, dinner and the awards ceremony.

Tickets are available for purchase online at www.naperjaycees.org.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available this year. Ask employers or contacts if they might be interested in sponsoring this year’s DSA.
