Students stop by St. Patrick’s Residence with Thanksgiving greetings

-

Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, students from the Brookdale Elementary School second grade brought  warmth and an attitude of gratitude to the citizens of St. Patrick’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Residence. St. Patrick’s Residence is  located a short distance from their neighborhood school on Naperville’s northwest side in the Brookdale subdivision.

After the classmates participated in a walking field trip to the facility, where caregivers provide for the elderly, they received a warm welcome.

During the visit, the students presented a  Thanksgiving letter they’d written  with a decorated tray liner with a Thanksgiving theme to every resident.

The students also serenaded everyone at St. Patrick’s with the traditional Thanksgiving song, “Over the River and Through the Woods.”

This project began last year as a way students could learn the importance of showing support and appreciation to residents within their community. The seniors welcomed their visitors and the students enjoyed the privilege to share their talents in such a thoughtful and caring manner.

The spirit of a happy Thanksgiving was shared by all.
