I distance myself from all the “light up the world for the sake of autism.”
Where the light means placing in the minds of many the struggle of those of us living in autism existence, I am not opposing it.
Hearing media people list our numbers and flag the symptoms is part of this month of awareness, however, hearing the same old tired words does nothing to shake up the world to this future crisis for us all.
Who will find the lifelong solutions of the truth that most of the people with autism need tremendous simple day-to-day help? The numbers don’t include people so deeply impacted, filled with fear of who will be able to lifelong take care of millions of us all over the globe.
The same people placed in positions over research often flood us with useless information. In the reality of this “one out of 60 babies living this day are born with or developing autism,” we will be here decades beyond all our parents.
Light up the urgency in deep long real focus on our overwhelmingly serious issues. Be aware that the one hope for us isn’t a few. It’s everyone seeing autism as their problem, like part of the answers are in their minds and hearts.
