Here’s the North Central College Cardinals’ story…
North Central continues to produce champions; in just three years, the women’s wrestling team at the College has established itself immediately as a national powerhouse.
The No.1 ranked Cardinals will host Chicagoland’s first-ever National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) Region IV Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, beginning at 10AM.
Twelve teams will meet inside Gregory Arena in Merner Field House, 450 S Brainard Street, on the campus of North Central College, for a chance to head to the National Tournament on March 3-4, 2023, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Wrestler Yelena Makoyed ’23 just recently won her fourth consecutive international gold medal in Croatia on Feb. 4, and pinned Yasemin Adar—the reigning World Champion from Turkey—at the 2022 World Cup. She is also a three time All-American and two-time National Champion.
